Can Dogs Eat Yogurt

Yogurt is a yummy, healthy treat for humans – but is it just as good for dogs?

Actually, it is! While many dogs are generally lactose intolerant, they can get some benefits from eating the occasional yogurt.

Can Dogs Eat Yogurt?

Dogs can eat yogurt in moderation. A small bowl every other week or so won’t harm your dog.

Yogurt is high in calcium and protein, so it can help you achieve your dog’s nutritional goals. It’s preferable that you serve Greek yogurt since it doesn’t have any sugar.

Additionally, make sure that you check the ingredients list for Xylitol. This specific type of artificial sweetener is toxic to dogs and can even be fatal.

Is My Dog Lactose-Intolerant?

Before feeding your dog some yogurt, make sure that they’re not lactose-intolerant. Some symptoms you have to watch out for include vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, gas, abdominal discomfort, or lack of appetite.

Your dog may also be allergic to yogurt specifically, so if it’s your first time giving them yogurt, keep an eye on them for at least 30 minutes to see if any negative symptoms will show up.

Remember, always feed your dog in moderation!
